Sponsor Promo Giveaway Contest (CLIP-SHOT!)....

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 04 29, 2021 •  [Post 1]

Allrighty, time for another sponsor promotional giveaway contest. The lucky winner of this contest will receive a super cool, super light, I'm tired of propping my camera or phone on a stump to take my grip and grin trophy pics, and I'm tired of missing out big time cuz I don't have one in my pack...........Clip-Shot!

Now for the contest. It's an easy one ;) . All you've gotta do is post up what model rifle and round Wapititalk1 shot his first elk with. I'll start with a small hint; the year was 1982. I'll drop a fresh hint now and then as some of you dance around the correct answer. Let's go!

I do not know RJ. You told us years ago that your first gun was an over under 20 ga.-22 rim fire. I think it was a Savage, but you did not shoot elk with it. At least I don't think you did. You also told us that you used to kill deer with a model 94 win 30-30 you borrowed from your grandfather. These were both guns for common people. Nothing exotic there, so I suspect you had a common gun to kill your first elk with. I am going to try Remington 270 W as a second guess.

Ha. Yes, my dad bought a .22/20 gauge over and under Savage for the boys to hunt birds with, it was a great gun. I think my older brother still has it. Nobody has guessed the make, model, and caliber of the rifle that took down my first elk although some have been very close.

I’m a huge fan of the .308, I mean, all those Army snipers for XX years can’t be wrong :? . Ok, it was a 30.06, the first big game rifle I bought. Make, model.....hasn’t been hit on yet.

Quite a few close, but no cigar guesses. Maybe you need to shoot a bit faster (nudge, wink).

Remember that game we played as kids. You're the one blindfolded and I'm telling you you're either getting hot or cold (as you get closer or farther away from the target item)... ;) Well, you're burning up mister! Not quite though, it was not a model 740. I bought my rifle in 1982? and I believe it was the model that replaced the original model you mentioned. What was it? 8-)

Winner, winner, elk steak dinner! :D

It was the first rifle I'd actually bought (had always packed around one of my father's many boom sticks prior to the new Remington 7400, 30-06). Congrats on the big win Swede and thanks to all who participated. I'll get the Clip Shot packaged up and sent your way mister. r/RJ

Tigger was on this like a bloodhound, just a model number or two off ;) . Here's the skinny on the line up. https://www.remingtonsociety.org/remington-model-740-model-742-and-model-7400-autoloading-rifles/

I enjoyed guessing for the contest. Now I hope to do some selfies this hunting season posing with an elk. He will do the "elk steak dinner" part.
