Congrats to my buddy Hal

Postby Bullnuts » 12 18, 2012 •  [Post 1]

Just a quick shout out to my buddy Hal who popped a Colorado plains cow elk on Sunday afternoon. The hit was marginal and the cow beat feet into the river bottom so we waited until Monday to recover it. After a blood trail that led us through some thick tamarisk, I spotted the cow's head through the brush. It was down but still alive and Hal was able to get a shot through a small opening and put her down for good. I was really surprised that the cow hadn't been torn to bits by the coyotes down there and we were fortunate to find good blood and make a kill on a wounded animal. Glad to be a part of it!

Congratulations to your buddy Hal. Always good to have a tracker to help out that is tall enough to see over all the brush. LOL!

East of I25 you can kill as many elk as you want as long as you continue to buy tags. Unlimited either sex. It's a good deal if you can find access. Most of the land out there is private and hard to get on.
