Three More Days

Postby Swede » 08 21, 2020 •  [Post 1]

There are three more days after today before I head out to elk camp. Time is short now, but I am about packed and ready to go. I have been hitting in the saucer sized center of my 40 yard target every time for weeks now, so I just need to concentrate when the time comes. I have all my groceries packed and ready to load. The utility trailer is ready and all my gear is stored in plastic or wooden containers. Again, I am about ready.

I hear sailors get seasick, so quarantine yourself for two weeks when you get back to Seattle just in case it is contagious.

Nothing in this world would get me to stay two weeks in seattle when my feet hit dry ground.

I hear there are some bears and a deer or two that think you need to stay on the boat. They said is is a health issue for them. I assumed it was something you got at sea that concerned them.

I hear that. I live 50ish miles from that sh!%hole and haven't been there in 10+ years. Good luck on your hunt Swede; stay safe, shoot straight, and limit your consumption of canned food..... it'll be the death of you

This year it is MH meals for the first week. Canned food it too heavy to carry even on the bike trailer.

Swede, you have talked about biking and using you trailer a few times. Are you going far enough that you are sitting all day or are you still planning on getting out of the tree for lunch in the middle of the day?

Elkhunt, I will be over four miles from my truck and base camp. I may get out of my stand and go to where our spike camp is on some days, but probably not. No one else will be there, so I would only get out to get a little exercise.

Thanks all for your best wishes. I was hoping to find an opportunity to give you all the raspberries for not sending cards and letters, but you are all kind and considerate. That does not mean I will not be coming back to give you a hard time as only Swede can.

1. Tigger can't count. I am leaving tomorrow early AM.
2. You jerks need to be on your best behavior. Don't make me come back to straighten you out. That includes you Tigger and 7mm as well as Lefty.

Good hunting to all. Lets see the meatpole so full we need to set up another. At least that is the way prior hunters have done it where I camp. I think they hang two poles just out of optimism.

Thanks Elkhunttoo: I think I will sit in my tree stand and have a stare down with my trail camera to see which one of us has to leave first.

For those that don't understand, see the tree stand forum thread, "1st weekend in a tree stand", Elkhunt's post. I got a chuckle out of it.
