Tag returned today

Postby 2Rivers » 08 17, 2020 •  [Post 1]

Turned in a Colorado nonresident archery tag today. The main factors were covid 19 and the Cameron Pass fire. Good luck to everyone who is still able to hunt this season. I do have a Mn bear tag so I still have that. After 4 days of baiting I have at least 6 different bears on 3 baits.

Probably wise.We have over 130,000 acres burning in Colorado at present .The big ones have no hope of being put out until snow or rain does it and we are in a drought.

I am locked out of two of my hunt areas at present

Crap 2Rivers, I hate to hear that. Hope you knock the snot out of a big bear! You’ll get to deer hunt also, yes?

There must be a buck that desperately needs the treatment near you. They sure look good in little white packages in the freezer.

Yes I will have a deer tag too. A lot of bears on the baits, no big ones on camera yet. Monday morning I watched a 150-175 lb bear out of the bedroom window for 30 minutes. Scratching his back on a tree, standing on his hind legs eating hazelnuts and then moving to the mountain ash trees and berries. He was back in the yard again at 1:00 pm.

Man that’s tough. I’d be sick. I never cared for the fact that in Colorado you have to choose between bow or gun. But also having to pick a specific unit can cause problems too. If it were Montana or Wyoming you’d either wait until gun season or just relocate. Good luck with your hunting back home.

Thanks everyone. Just need to find a way to make lemonade out of lemons. May end up doing a trip in the Boundary waters with my daughter as I've worked to hard this summer to give back 2 weeks of vacation time
To my employer. Half way serious now, anyone need a camp cook for Colorado archery or muzzle loader season?
