When wolf advocates and others use statistics, it is often a point of propaganda. They claim that Idaho had a good elk harvest in spite of the wolves. What I see is no mention of hunter success rates or hunter days involved in harvesting an elk. Another point not mentioned is how the hunter success varies by unit. Maybe it is good in some areas, but poor in others. Maybe it is down is some areas due to wolf predation.
Another piece of garbage is that wolves help maintain healthy elk herds. Wolves kill elk. They kill calves, winter weakened adults, and cows that are pregnant, etc. indiscriminately. The wolf does not care about the health and vigor of the animal or the herd. The wolf will kill and keep on killing as long as they can. They are not conservationists. They are not cute and huggie. Humans, properly regulated are the only conservationists.
Lefty: the Fish and Game department employees cannot write op-eds for the new paper but you can.

Don't forget CO will have wolf reintroduction on the ballot this coming Nov, against the published policy of CPW (state game, fish management agency). You don't have to be a resident to have an opinion, you can financially oppose this effort which is being funded by deep pocket nonresidents. Learn more here: https://www.stopthewolf.org/. RMEF is another national organization opposing CO wolf reintroduction. CO big game herds and hunters could certainly use your help in opposing forced wolf reintroduction.
