Wyoming 89

I am not looking for your secrete spot but was wondering if anyone can give me any general information on unit 89?
Is it heavily hunted?
Are elk populations good?
Any new burn?
Anything will be appreciated.

To answer your questions. Yes there is elk. Not too much burn, you can find maps on this. There are grizzlies. It does get pressure but how much is a lot?

I just don't think Wyoming is going to be good hunting this year... good luck..
from the preliminary reports it looks very, very bad in that area..

Will be difficult, be interesting what they post the final regulations

The elk will be fine in Wyoming. Especially in that neck of the woods where they have feed grounds to support the elk when times are tough. Tracking studies show that the mule deer migrate huge distances to winter. Huge! But even so they will be the ones that show the impact of this past winter. Regions G & H have already cut deer tags 30% and 25% respectively and the seasons shortened a bit. A friend was glassing elk out his living room window in 89 just the other day and numbers looked pretty much the same as previous years. Elk are tough!

Also... the gun opener in 89 last year started with an all day thick fog. The cow season in gun is only the first 3 days and for that reason the cow harvest was down. That should be a bit of a help as well since under normal conditions more elk are killed on that day than any other.

I've never hunted 89, but I killed my first archery bull in Wyoming in 1989. Your title had me going for a minute.
