Wapiti Talk Hunting Forum Member Ranking

I've had a few inquiries over the past weeks on how the heck I determine ranking in the forum (the badge/ID that shows up with your user information). Well, the basic rankings have been preset over the past 5+ years and go as follows:

New User - 0-49 posts
Calf - 50-99 posts
Spike - 100-199 posts
Raghorn - 200-299 posts
Satellite Bull - 300-399 posts
Herd Bull - 400 - 499 posts
Elk Nut - 500+ posts

There are also some special tags that are given to certain members that have been up and down the elk trails, very successfully, over a long career of roaming the elk woods. I try to be unique with these tags based on the particular skill set these elk slayers bring to the table. These are the cats that have been down the road many, many elk hunters are traveling today and their experience level warrants our attention when they take the time to chime in on Wapiti Talk. You can call them elk ninja masters, but I've just titled them something a bit different based on their travels in their user information.

Oh ya, there are also the stinky ADM's and MODS, they are highlighted in either green or blue. They're the worst of the worst, and not to be trifled with

Thanks RJ for the update.
Just for information: Rankings only show number of posts and likely reflect a little on longevity. I pay no attention to them when reading a post. It is all about personal integrity. I appreciate good humor, honest questions, and anything that adds to the corporate knowledge based on experience in the field or personal study. I even appreciate some honest skepticism. After all if you have different experience you are going to have some different interpretations on what is best, or what is taking place. Lets share these differences and discuss them here. The last I checked it appeared we are all still learning.

Well put Swede. A wise man told me a long time ago that if you don't learn something new each day, that day is lost. I believe that elk hunting is a constant evolution of learning, fueled by experience in the field, research, and an honest willingness to consider new or different tactics to increase our odds for success. Each year, we should be adding another tidbit to our elk woods toolkit that may stand with us in wapiti battle.

Well Joe, the way I see it, only one guy has reached that 4836 number. But there are a couple of others that aren't very far behind and they all have reached your Cronic BSer rank even though the haven't reached the magic number yet.

I was joking about my classification the other day RJ.....with the SME [Subject Matter Expert] crack.

Mine really should be, "Still Learning" as even after 3 decades these elk seem to teach me something new every year!

It is ok to be serious or to make a joke. I am satisfied you are no rookie and have a lot to share here. I agree with I.S. and WW's comments too. We share in a way that is purposeful and intended to keep people engaged. We can call it what we want. I have technical "how to" manuals, but will read a good book that contains useful materials. BTW, we can have B.S. with just one post. I guess the question is when is it chronic and when is it purposeful?
