"The new phone book is here!"

Not really, just a Steve Martin line from the Jerk. What is newly available online is the CO '17 Big Game Brochure.

Noting several errors: If your desired hunt code has an asterisk indicating it was leftover after 1st draw, double check on the statistics page. 1st glance I found these units listed as having leftovers: EE00401A, EF00301R, every EM049 ML/rifle code. They all were gone after 1st drawing in '16. Caveat emptor.

Further reading reveals that some units w an asterisk only got it because some were turned in and reissued through the late leftover sales. Meaning they were not available in the leftover drawing. How confusing is that? I hope CPW can make that more plain, rather than hiding vague short note on page 19.

Best to always check the statistic page. The brochure is not very accurate. I put in a for a late deer hunt in January because I knew of private land I could hunt. A month before the season,I got a note form CPW saying the brochure was wrong. The open area w as east of a road and not west as stated

I don't find it confusing... It seemed pretty clear to me... If it has an * next to it it means that at some point there was a left over remaining weather or not that was after the draw or if someone turned a tag back in for reissue. If you are planning on using the asterisk as a way to put in for a unit or not then by all means you should check the draw results from the previous year.

What I find difficult to understand is the new wording about hunting over bait.... Animal parts especially... So regardless if you or someone else placed the bait it's illegal... So does that mean you can't hunt over a previous kill site now for bears? Seems to me that animal parts placed there by a previous kill would constitute baiting and make it illegal now to hunt bears from that spot.
