Time To Buy Wyoming Points

Postby Indian Summer » 07 06, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Starting this month you can go online and buy your preference points in Wyoming for elk and deer. The deadline which was extended starting last year is October 30th. It's really simple. Elk $50. Deer $40.

If we were successful this year drawing tags - can we still get a point, or do we have to wait until next year?

1 point or license per year so if you drew this year you can't buy one. Buy a deer point!

Yes Mathews you can buy a point. You didn't have to do anything previously to buy one. It is mainly for hunters who didn't want to apply for a license this year. If you had applied for a license earlier you had two options. One was to also pay the fee for a point then and if you don't draw you get it. Or don't include the point fee and if you don't draw buy it later which is now.

50 dollar for a preference point, Christ, what a rip off. an elk tag is cheaper than that.

I got a bunch now. I just need to carve out the time to hunt WY. Too much huntn; not enough time

WYO Elk, if you think $50 is too much you haven't been playing the Western points game for long. Some states would blow your mind in terms of expenses

120$ Wyoming points for me.
Puts me at 5 for elk. Wondering how the point creep will affect me. 3 for deer and pronghorn

I will be buying point number 4 this year. Question for you experienced archery guys... Will I be able to draw a tag with 4 points in 2017?

otcWill, you are correct th at I haven't been playing the game long. this will be my third season in Wyoming. guess I am used to the SD system where you just paid 5 dollars to get a preference. hard to justify paying 50 for a point when I can buy a general tag and out meat in the freezer for less than that.

Drew a deer tag too, so I'm back to zero for both, but I guess that's a good thing... :D

I had 5 elk and five deer points. I moved to Wyoming last August. I put all my points in the nonresident draw. And didn't draw any thing.
The elk unit was 100% draw at 3.5 points the year before. Now my deer points were a little longer shot.... So I lost all my points at $50 and 40 dollars a pop.

You drew deer too! Huh. You're in a pretty darn good spot to fill that tag too. I'll shoot you a PM when I have a minute,
