Buying points for Wyoming ?

Quick one but I haven't seen the answer.

If I purchase a application for Wyoming and I purchase the preference point at the same time does the point apply before or after the draw ?

Since points are only purchased from July 1st to end of Sept this means your points do not apply until the following year.

So correct me if I'm wrong but then the option to purchase a point technically takes your money now and credits you a point once they are available ?
Not very clear in the checkout process but makes sense - sort of

If you apply now for either an elk or deer license and select the preference point option you will gain a point if you do not draw your first choice license. Some people will enter a hard to get license in the first choice hoping to draw on a long shot in the random drawing which is not based on points. The point which is awarded after the drawing is good for the following year.

if you don't want to apply for anything you can wait until the preference point only period July 1 to October 30 and just buy the points online for the following year.

Either way the point fee is the same.

No. One or the other. You can only gain 1 point per species per year.

The G&F website has the preference point application period from July 1st to October 31st.

Yes Paul they changed it. You're correct it used to be Sept 30.
