Wilderness area?

Are you guys seeing cattle in the wilderness areas during archery season?

Yep. Sheep and cattle on wilderness in CO

I could hunt Wyoming wilderness but I don't. I do hunt some wilderness study areas. The thing I see most if anything is sheep where I'm at. But you don't see them scattered like cattle can be. They are in big flocks with sheep herders tending them. They will push elk out of their way but then you just move to the other side of the drainage or whatever and you're good to go. I do see cattle in one spot sometimes. Hunting is good there and even better just over the top of the ridge from them.

I have hunted elk where cattle grazed a lot in Montana. The only time grazing ever had an effect was when the ranchers came up and did their thing but that wasn't very often at all. Elk will live among cattle with out a care if that was a concern you had.

In Colorado at least, grazing permit include wilderness areas.
Usually they end by the latter part of September. Sheep are moved of earlier as there is a certain plant the can be poisonous to sheep that will eat once grass is grazed.
One of the reasons rifle season start when they do is the CPW doe snot want hunters out enmass while cattle are still out .
