Colorado GMU 54 Cow Elk Help

My girlfriend and I are college students and extremely avid and motivated elk hunters. In the past, harvesting a cow has saved us hundreds of dollars of food expenses and we love brain tanning as a fun hobby. For the past 3 years as of just yesterday, we have been skunked on our hunt. We backpacked 6-7 miles into soap basin for 5 days. We still have this weekend and can perhaps make it 4 miles or so with little time. We are in decent physical condition and train all year for our wapiti hunts. We are not trophy hunters, all we want is to harvest a single cow this weekend and return with money saving meat and a few steaks to give to the family for the holidays this year. ANY advice would be incredibly helpful and appreciated! Thanks guys!

Welcome aboard. Bad weather is your friend now. Spend as much time as possible until season ends in the elkiest places you know. Some of the elk migration corridors on the CPW big game atlas in 54 are near Soap Park. If enough snow falls up high on the Baldies...

Have you checked Curacannti creek? Go up past the campground and look for them to be in the drainage's above the beaver ponds.
