Fires

With all the fires going on in the Northwest, in the areas that are untouched by the fires but affected by the smoke in some ways or another whether it be just a haze in the sky on a sunny day or actual smoke blowing through, does this effect the elk behavior and/or movement ? I'm just curious because I have never been in or experienced this type of situation. Thank you in advance.

In colorado we had a few bad years and I recall one fire near me, I was able to keep a good eye on things as I was working as a feller for a logging company cutting roads. I can say the haze did not effect the amount we saw the animals..
now when we were in areas with actual smoke lofting around and the occasional hot spot the animals were gone, did not see them.. not sure if that will correlate out there, its been a rough year for you guys..

Had a similar situation in Wyoming a few years ago. The fire was burning right where we planned to hunt. We moved a few miles away and were successful. Had to get away from the fire area and the forest roads leading up to the fire zones due to the increased traffic due to the crews rotating in and out. We did move further west - so the prevailing winds would blow the smoke away from where we were. Once we got away from the hot zones, I don't think it affected them much.
