When are you leaving???

Postby foxvalley » 08 10, 2015 •  [Post 1]

It's getting very close now!!!!
When are you leaving, what state ,and how long will you be gone?
I'm leaving sept 2,for ID,plan on having camp set up the 4th,putting out bear baits on the 5th,and checking them every couple days during my elk hunt, which opens on the 6th. I plan on staying till the season ends on sept 30th if need be.

Stop it lefty, your making me hungry! How about 100lbs. of dog food and 70lbs. of molassas?
We used to get cases of brownies, and racks and racks of "hostess", two for the bears, one for me,two for the bears, one for me....
We also used to get 55 gal drums full of candybar nugget, made of butter, sugar, and sweetened condensed milk, you have no idea how good that stuff was!!! The bears bypassed douhnuts for it!

We will be setting up camp on the 11th and hunting for a couple of days to fill our tags. Then some fishing! LOL. We will be hunting through the 25th and waiting for another year to pass so we can do it all over again. The time is fast approaching. Can't wait to hear the first bugles.

Let's see. I will be leaving at noon every Friday for the next who knows how long starting this Friday. First we have Utah Archery, then Idaho, then back to Utah for my oldest boys rifle (Firefighter so he can't make the archery), then we have a cow muzzleloader tag. Fun to be had and I am sure I will have some very sore legs, feet and back somewhere along the way. Elk in the freezer, mmm good chow!

I'll be leaving early Sept. 11th to head to Idaho. Should be about a 30 hour drive, but I'll enjoy every bit of it. We will be heading back home the 20th. It's not a lot of time to hunt, so hopefully I can get lucky and sllip an arrow into something.

I'm lucky enough to live an hour away from my hunting grounds. We are leaving August 29th and scouting a few days then hunting Sept 1-6, we then have 10 days off a month and have 44 more days to fill our elk and deer tags if needed. Also have 3 antelope tags to fill in my backyard more or less before the end of Oct.

My mind left for elk camp about three weeks ago. My body will rejoin it on Aug. 28. 2 bull tags, 2 buck tags, 2 wolf tags, bear and Mtn.lion so I'll be out there for all of September parts of October, all of November and , if the big bucks haven't given me a fair chance yet, right into December. The freezer's just about empty so the 28th can't come soon enough ! Now...what was I supposed to be doing....?

Less than 24 hours now!!! Headed out just after noon tomorrow. Sadly, my shooter, my wife, the only one with an archery tag, decided she had to go to a friend's daughter's wedding on opening weekend! Whaaaa??? Where are the priorities here??? Well, that's not stopping me. I'm STILL going tomorrow, even without a valid tag. I'll just have to tie a couple to trees for her to shoot (has a cow tag, and a spike tag - so can shoot two cows, or a spike and a cow). The boys and I will have fun fishing and eating smores on opening weekend while doing a bit of scouting. Can't hardly focus at work.
