Idaho closing forest!!!

Postby Elkonthebrain » 07 22, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Anyone else hear about the governor wanting to close the forest? I hope if this happens it will not affect my archery hunt.

The lady I talked to told me if the closure is during my whole season that I could switch my tag to a different unit or get a rain check for next year.

I wouldn't be too concerned, they threaten this every other year. I had a feeling it was fire stuff. I guess time will tell.

The only one I remember them closing was back around 2008 or 2009, then it was only for a week or so & it all opened up again. The only reason it closed was because there was an actual fire in the area we wanted to hunt. Other than that the seasons have always ended up staying open, it seems they (F&G) love the drama.

if i remember corectly they did close a few units down a few years back here in NM for that same reason. good news is this year were sitting high on the rainguage so no need to worry about that happening this year.

This goes on in every Western state during drought/fire seasons. Not every game dept will compensate you for not getting to hunt because the forest service or BLM close off the area.
