Tent Advice

Postby kchapin » 07 12, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Looking for suggestions on a 3 man tent for spike camp hunting. I would like something that will work for September elk in Colorado but also heavy snow and wind if SHTF. Looking to stay lower than $400. TIA.

The basic tent of nearly every Boy ?Scout Troop in the west: Kirkhams Spring bar ($419)or Cabelas copy the Kodiak ($399)
I had 70 miles winds that blew apart my other tents, Also have had 10 " of fresh snow. Made of canvas, Closed up you can also get a few degrees of warmth
Easy to set up without light( Ive maybe done that over 100 times :) )
Poles that don't break, and zippers that last.
Ive spent over 200 night in Springbars the past 20 year,.. adding 5 more nights this week.
Kind of nice to be able to sit up or stand up
They defiantly are not a packing tent unless a horse is packing

Take a look at the Tarptent Cloudburst 3. Should be just what you are looking for.
