Gloves

Has anyone found a great pair of gloves? I am thinking about September/October gloves, so most likely not insulated. Just enough to take the chill off. I was going to try Kuiu merino gloves but a few buddies of mine said they don't last long if your going through timber and moving limbs and branches out of the way. I was thinking of some Mechanix band gloves.

I would also be interested in an insulated pair. I am thinking KUIU Northstar gloves. Has anyone found anything better or reviews on them?

I use some older wileyX leather gloves, and I pick up a 3 pack of camo gloves from home depot - there $9.99

I use a very thin pair that have been ripped and the materials are hanging from my fingers and have used them for 20 years !! LOL They are my good luck charm and have touched many many elk !!!

I use a wool pair over top if I need warmth. Cheap and easy !!

The best pair of gloves I found, bar none,are the sitka core gloves,or liner gloves.These gloves are super thin,and really warm for how thin they are,and the bonus of these gloves is they have little sticky grippers on the inside of the palm,which make a really nice no slip grip.I have had my two pair for four years now,and am going to get two more pair soon, as the grippy stuff has worn off of the old ones. They ran 20.00 back then,guessing they are still around the same price.
I would be lost without these gloves, and highly recommend them.

Kuiu Guide Gloves for me. I've had mine for 3 seasons and they still perform flawlessly. Pretty much waterproof and they definitely keep the wind and chill off your hands. I also like that the palm is very tacky for holding onto your equipment. Very good glove in my opinion.

I have a pair of Manzella Bow Sniper gloves I really like. They are plenty warm enough for sitting a stand or driving quad on a frosty morning, not too bulky, and have an ample hole to fit your bow release through. Manzella also has a few other varieties of gloves. I think I paid around 30 bones for these last year. Just another option to look at

I got gloves similar to Phantoms, they are the Manzella pop-top mitten that also have the bow release hole thing. They're designed with pockets for the little hand warmer things. They worked nicely but I couldn't get the hand warmer things when it got really cold, so I ended up freezing my fingers, almost literally.

I have a couple of options in the daypack. I usually start with either wool liner military surplus or fleece camo for the morning. Once it warms I switch to a cotton one with stiples on the palm for better grip.

I'll second the sitka gloves. I've picked up a few pairs on camofire. Very nice all purpose gloves.

I also shredded my Kuiu Merino wool gloves. They are a great liner, but not an exterior glove. I'd mirror what Vertical Limit says about the Kuiu Guide glove (just note they are not waterproof, heavy rain and snow will soak them). I've had the Kuiu Yukon Pro gloves for only a winter. They are waterproof, but bulkier than the Guide glove. Will use them for glassing or tree stand hunting, but not archery elk hunting in September. And the leather palms are very tacky.

I ended up purchasing a pair of HotShot Armegeddon gloves. I never heard of them before but saw them on Camofire. I am not much of an impulse buyer but I had been looking for a pair of lighter gloves to keep the chill off. The one thing that drew me to them was that they are longer to cover your wrists and they don't have velcro.

I use the Mecanix brand in full camo pattern. i shoot in them year round to be used to them. i wear them for hunting Mulies in the deserts of NM to keep my hands protected and i will use them this year for my Elk hunt in NM in Sept. they are washable if they get to stinky from sweat and they will air dry in short order hanging out in a breeze.

I got the gloves. I was expecting a thin material like some Under Armour ones but they are slightly thicker than that. They have thinsulate insulation in them, however they are not thick like winter gloves. Having worn all types of gloves on many below zero deer hunts in SD, these would be a pair you could wear as cold weather gloves for all of your elk hunting. I plan on getting Mechanix gloves for warm weather.

Mike, does that plastic/rubber piece that has the velcro interfere with an archery release?

it doesnt with mine. i use a Cobra release with the felcro wrist strap. they work very well together. i shoot in them all year. i even have a seperate pair that i use for rifle season so i dont get powder smell on my archery gloves.
