CO GMU 48 winter storm

Postby scase » 11 12, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Hunting GMU 48 (Mt Massive/Leadville) area the next few days. There is a winter storm watch in effect for this area. Any general recommendations hunting elk with feet of snow in the forecast? Yes I did get snow shoes just in case. Do elk habits change much during heavy snow fall?

not really what you're asking, but be safe first and make sure you stay dry and have a back up plan to get dry and warm.

really heavy snow may push the elk to lower elevations. in January, they move down into the Buena Vista area sometimes and raid the ranches and farms hay supplies.
