warm weather

With the warm weather we have been having is it possible that it fooled the elk I'm not sure we have had a rut yet honestly and I've heard some speculation on this but idk to much about natural occurances and weird weather is it possible to see the breeding season fall late due to warm weather

If you're referring to peak rut, it has pretty much come & gone! Warm weather or not it would take an act of God to stop elk from breeding! (grin)

When a cow comes into estrus & is ready to be bred she's in 12-15 hours not days like some presume. Peak rut generally hits the same every year. It is generally here in the Western States from Sept. 12-25. Of course there is breeding going on before & after that but not peak breeding! You would have to hunt nearly everyday to catch elk breeding, some days there can be a rut fest & others fairly quiet with little bugling going on. There are 4 stages to elk rutting but only one peak time frame. You must have missed it along with others in your area, you can bet it took place. Amount of elk in your areas can also dictate the amount of rutting going on.

Do you stop trying to breed when it's hot out? I didn't think so. The elk don't either.
