Two Bull call questions

One: After my buddy missed a shot on a bull... twice... we hung around the area. The bull, I do not believe, knew what was happening or that we were humans. We had the wind, I was 50 yards from the shooter, and the chaos for the bull was likely never solved. However... about an hour or so later, maybe 200 yards away, I heard what was maybe an alarm sound from a bull. There was no chance we were in view of said bull, and no wind. Would a bull do an alarm call in this situation if it was the same one we shot at? At the time, my hopes was that it was a different bull that was sounding off on a situation we weren't a part of (zero chance of there being an unseen hunter up there with us)

Secondly (more importantly) : We were sitting on a bench/bedding area above where about 300-400 yards down the ridge we heard a bull being chatty. We weren't making any calls, but he made a few single note, non chuckle, noises. Hard to describe, and unlikely helpful to anyone, but it was almost like a Bull Moose sound...? Any idea as to what this would be saying?

1- Hard to say for sure not being there but I'm going to guess that the 1st bull knew something wasn't quite right after being shot at twice! This means there was most likely calling done from you guys. You were representing the species & the bull did not see any elk after heading your way & being shot at. He went back to a safe distant & asked these elk he'd heard (you guys) to come out & show themselves with his Nervous Grunt like bark.

2- Bulls can make all sorts of different elky sounds as they feel their testosterone levels rise & so they will advertise themselves to both the ladies & gents around letting them know who & where they are, they are more concerned with attracting the ladies! Moo like elk tones are not uncommon, they can come from mature bulls as well as bulls who are darned near bugled out from rutting hard! They can come from a form of lazy bugles as they bed!
