How many people take a back up bow?

I ask this because I just returned from a New Mexico hunt at Valles Caldera. On the third evening of the five day hunt, while my son and I were waiting for the Thermals to change I drew back my Matthews Drenalin to make sure the peep was aligned right. There was this loud crack and we looked at each other like what happened. I had an arrow on the string(I always do when drawing back a bow to assure I never dry fire one). The arrow just stayed in place, I notice the lower limb just kind of collapsed/splintered. We raced back to the truck to get my backup bow, its an Oregon Deschutes, like twenty years old. I had shot it once this year, about three weeks ago to make sure I knew it worked and where the single sight pin was set. On its upper limb I put a small piece of duct tape saying 35 yards, where the pin was sighted in at.(I'm old and might forget)
The next day that old bow, which is quite heavy to lug around, delivered a perfect arrow on a 329 5/8" bull. I will post the pic and story later since we just got home and finished the meat and now need to unpack.

I'm so glad I took a back up bow.

Always. I have a bow that can be adjusted without a press so everybody in the group can use it. Easy for me because I have the archery shop, but resale on bows is so low I ALWAYS recommend customers keep their old bow when they buy a new one. Cheapest backup bow they'll ever find. Even for hunting around home it will take at least a week to do any major repairs, and nobody wants to miss a week of the rut.

Yes, We have 2 back up bows for 6 people. The reason we had 2 is because of draw length 27" and 29". I would work for most of the people in are group except 1 guy he has monkey arms with a 31" draw.

Absolutely. I have a switchback as my backup bow.

I kept my bear bow when I bought my mathews so I had a backup, hope I never have to resort to that but it's there just in case, I have a 30 inch draw so no one else could use it, but it is adjustable somewhat, I also carry half a dozen backup arrows just in case
