Advertising Sequence - Lone Hunter

Paul,

Watched your new video and listened to it on the MP3 disc. With both the Advertising Sequence and Breeding Sequence, it seems one of the key elements is to call nearly continuously (at least once a minute or so as well as making sounds, stomping, rubbing, etc.). As a Lone Hunter (and being both the caller and the shooter), and not being able to distance yourself from the noise, especially with silent elk coming in, do you do anything different in your setups with wind, etc, trying to give yourself an edge when that elk comes in?

When calling in the past, I'll move 20-30 yards, up wind, do some calling and then circle back downwind of my calling spot. But I'm only doing this a few times an hour when cold calling if I'm hunting alone. I'm trying to figure out how to give myself an edge when trying these two sequences in your new DVD, while being preoccupied with calling and making additional noise and still being able to be in a good spot to give myself and advantage for the shot.

Either sequence works well with a partner or hunting solo. As we show in the video & explain how to handle a calling sequence if hunting solo you'll notice how we stop intermittently to scan the area looking for any movement or listening for any sound that may indicate an animal moving our way, such things as brush being rustled, stick snapping, running hooves, etc. -- We've used these techniques many times with success when hunting alone. You just have to be extra careful of your surroundings & when you feel elk are approaching stop all calling & put them in search mode. -- Too, as mentioned in the video your setup is crucial to reduce an elk hanging up out of range! It's all discussed in the video.
