Washington and Oregon

I have a question. I am starting to plan for an Oregon Elk Trip for next year. After seeing posts for the past several months I have noticed that there seem to be several folks from the Northwest on here. Are Roosevelts just not as fun as the Rocky Mountain Version? I have packed all around Ranier and Mt. ST Helens and that terrain scares me way more than the Rocky's do but I just dont see anyone commenting on it. I would just like to get an idea if I am headed in the wrong direction? The first elk hunt I ever went on was on the Olympic Peninsula - He bugled - I turned - and proceeded to slide down to the bottom of a ravine through thigh high ferns. That was with a rifle but bow hunting has to be fun huh? Oh - I should mention that I was not calling - I didnt have a clue what I was doing. I just know that he was really big, really close and loud enough to just about make me have to change britches:). Thus the slide down the mud chute.

So, what's your question? I'm not sure if you're asking if you should or shouldn't hunt Roosevelts or if you just want to know if it's fun. Please clarify and I will try to answer your questions.

My question is it worth it to hunt Roosevelts or should I just stick with the Rocky Mountain version? Would I be better to spend money on Wyoming or New Mexico or Oregon?

for sure..... if i were to spend money and want a good investment..... New Mexico or Wyoming or Colorado would top my list! sorry but Oregon is not really known for big bulls..... not saying we don't have a bruiser or 2 hanging around but money is better spent there i'd say. i know several guys that go to Idaho or Montana, our F&W program leaves a little to be desired. (IMHO)
