If you dont live near the Rockies II

Postby Lefty » 07 28, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Well this weekend my wife wanted to visit some childhood places along the Idaho Wyoming lines.
Who was it that wanted to know about trailheads along Tincup?
My wife told me they drove the dirt road which is now the highway on her first archery elk hunt.

Dont tell my wife I posted a pic with her moving lambs out of the road

View from my chair for the nights camp
15 minutes later we were in the tent and the coyotes serenaded us to sleep.
Woke up to 38 degrees in the tent. I didnt see frost but it must have been close

We soon discovered that many of the ATV trails in Wyoming were just trails designated by some pencil pusher, I short distance further on this trail we watched two motorcyclist wipe out, We turned back .
One "loop"trail we headed up just plain ended We turned around in the same location everyone else had,..We checked out the other end of the loop,.. nearly as rough

The area we hiked must be good hunting  we came across 5 guys scouting for their draw hunts.
We did see deer but no elk this trip Took a break at the first snow we came across
It was 101 at home. The higher elevation I hiked to topped out at 78 degrees at mid afternoon

Deer and elk tracks everywhere. I killed more horse flies than mosquitoes
Found a neat campsite, a few elk beds in the shade of the trees, and the campers cache of propane
At the high elevations the flowers were just starting to bloom
Seemed to be a lot of snow slides last winter in the area
