First Time Scouting

Postby TxTechChuck4 » 07 08, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Went and scouted out for elk for the first time in Colorado, spooked some bedded down cows around 11,500'. There was a game trail right around where they were bedded but I forgot batteries for my trail cam, I'll have to go back up in a week to set it up. My question would be how likely are elk to hang around this area in early September?

I'd say It's likely. From here on out, I think they are more likely to go lower by September due to the high country drying out or an early frost killing the good feed.

Thanks, I'm headed back this weekend with my trail cams with batteries to set up next to that game trail and also next to a watering hole I found. Bringing the thermacell this time around as the skeeters almost carried me away.
