Drew either sex archery in 55. Never been there. Any advice would be appreciated. Thinking of hunting between gunnison and crested butte area. Any private cabin rentals in area y'all know about? Thanks guys!!!

Taylor Park Trading Post has some rustic cabins too. 970-641-2555

55 gets a lot of use in the summer. Lots of campers, ATVs and motorcycles. You'll need to get off the trails/roads.

Taylor park does have some Cabins but just a heads up that area and those cabins are pretty much an ATV and motorcycle park. There are tons of trails there and they get used alot. there are quite a few elk in that area but you have to do your homework to get away from all the riders, and that can be hard to do there depending on what trails are closed or opened.

Looking at three rivers resort in almont. Any places nearby that r worth hunting or would crested butte area b better? Not asking for anyone's honey holes just some suggestions. Thanks guys for the input!!!

Lost Canyon area south east of Almont has elk. Better in later seasons though. Spring Creek isn't far from Almont.

You would have about a twenty minute drive to hunting from both Almont or Crested Butte. And they are about twenty minutes apart. Both have access to good stuff. Staying up near Taylor Reservoir would be good as well. I'm not familiar with how the hunting would be down on the 285 side of things as I have never hunted down there.

Crb, are you doing the hunt solo? I also have a 55 archery tag and I'm planning on going solo at this point.
