I'm going to be headed to sw colorado in October for 2nd rifle season for my first elk hunt, I was thinking unit 78! Any suggestions? I'll be driving up from Texas and alone so i am open for suggestions, I'm not asking for any honey holes just a place where I can see some elk and possibly shoot one if the situation presents itself.I do have many P P but not ready to use them so I'll be buying an over the counter tag. Any info would be greatly appreciated... Not after a trophy yet!!

second season can be a many varied thing. I mean lots of hunters driving around and maybe or maybe not snow on the ground if you are high enough.
Or it could be one of those indian summer things which can make for really tough hunting. you PM me for a secret spot only for first timer Lone Star hunters. LOL
Normally I hunt up there during archery season so I haven't seen 2nd season in awhile.

and welcome to the forum.
