always having a call in your mouth

Postby dapper » 05 08, 2014 •  [Post 1]

I've read where hunters say they always have a diaphragm call in their mouth while elk hunting. Do you usually leave it between your teeth and inner cheek or always on your tongue? I need to practice this but kind of think I might gag or choke on the darn thing.

Thanks

I got it there if I am in the woods and still hunting or waiting for something. Now if I am out on a quick hike or out in the open, it is stashed in a pocket with very quick access. I suggest you might just start doing it and it doesn't take long to get used to it being in your mouth.

As soon as I start moving it's stashed between my teeth and cheek. Quickly accessible if needed. Spares are in my pocket if needed...

Not me. I can't get enough oxygen with it in. But it's easy to get to.

Mines usually dangling out my mouth as I chew on a corner.

Always have mine in but sometimes I gotta pull it out when I'm hiking cause I can't get enough air as well or almost choke on it every once in a while

I don't know if I have an always, but I can place it between my cheek and teeth and leave it there. Sometimes I move it around in my mouth and play with it out of frustration or boredom, or do as Ishy describes. Sometimes I have it in my pocket handy in case it would be useful.

Unless I'm catching my breath or eating, mine is always in. I learned the hard way on a missed/blown opportunity. My mouth read is in even when making sounds with an external reed call.

Usually have it on my lip, but stash it if in the open for a long hike.
