Well today my son Passed his BowHunter Education test and is a certified Montana BowHunter! He passed the test with 100% Now if we can actually find time between football practice and games to actually get to hunt? Looks like we might get part of 2 Sundays. I guess we will hope for the best around here.

Congrats! My son will turn 12 this month and will finally be old enough to hunt big game this September with me. He's been practicing his calling a lot this winter but things slowed down (both calling and shooting our bows) with him in LAX this spring. Once it's over we are home free for the summer and fall. He decided he didn't want to do a fall sport this year in order to focus on hunting. I hope I don't let him down.

Just out of curiosity, how does a Bowhunters ed class differ from the hunters ed class?

They teach you it's not safe to discuss expandable broadheads and frontal shots online in the bowhunter class. Ha

Trophyhill, In Bowhunters ed, they teach about bows, and broad heads, and ethics, and the responsibility of a bow hunter,Shot placement with archery gear and about shot height and angles. and finally, how to be a respectful, ethical, and responsible bow hunter. In the regular Hunter safety they go over gun safety , how to hold your weapon when walking with others etc. A lot of overlap with first aid and hypothermia etc with both courses.

Congrats to the Littleman on passing his Bowhunter Ed, as an IBEP instructor in the UK, we get great satisfaction from seeing participants pass. Hope to see a post soon of his first successful bow hunt.
