Required reading

There are many books on elk hunting out there but in my mind none will provide the info that "Elk of North America Ecology and Management" provides. For the guys getting started what other titles should be in their libraries?

I have The PlayBook + what you mentioned in my library. I've read others too but wouldn't exactly call them "must haves". If a guy wants to know about elk, these 2 are a great combination to have and for me have been a great confidence builder.

I have three books by my bedside table. As GS mentioned (actually, on his recommendation not that many years ago) Elk of North America Ecology and Management, The Playbook, and Tree Stand Hunting Rocky Mountain Elk. I rotate evening reads between the three. The big book reads like a college textbook but is packed full of very, very good elk information. I also believe that this forum in particular, is the leading elk hunting discussion board on the net and I spend a bit of time reading here also ..

I just received my copy of the The Playbook 2 weeks ago, so I've been trying to find time to dig more into it. Also, have Tree Stand Hunting Rocky Mountain Elk. I'm thinking since I'm a such a sucker for text books (still have most of mine from college LOL) I better get Elk of North America Ecology and Management!

Just finished Ecology and Management. Elk Country is good too if you can stop looking at the pictures long enought to read it. Ultimate elk hunting by Bob Robb is good cause he has chapters with Randy Ulmer, Dan Evans, etc each giving thier two cents. Another coffee table one with great pics is Majesty.
