Archery Seasons

Postby JES_Wisc » 04 08, 2014 •  [Post 1]

I realize rules might change from unit to unit but does the archery season in Wyoming pretty much run Sept 1st - Sept 30th regardless of the day it falls on? It looks like is started on Sunday Sept. 1st last year so I would expect it might start on Monday this year...... Is that correct ?

I haven't looked it up on the calendar but your reasoning sounds about right, it should be starting on a Monday if opening on the 1st!

JES_Wisc - For elk, for most units you'd be correct. 9/1 thru 9/30 is the normal archery season. However, there are exceptions. Attached is a link for the 2013 regulations, archery seasons are discussed in section 4 on pages 18 and 19. Seasons dates generally stay the same, but hunters need to double check every year when the final regulations are approved for the year when winter mortality has been determined (usually late April/early May).

Other species, antelope for example archery season may stay open until the start of rifle season.
