If you couldn't use verbal calls and couldn't sit in a tree stand or ground blind of some type. How would you go about hunting elk with archery gear?

Glad there is because if calling was the only way I wouldn't have elk meat in my freezer right now.

I would have to be in a position to have a decent view of my area and hope to see something coming out before dark or coming back up the mountain after light and try to get to an area for an ambush. Some stomping and raking might have to be in the mix to.Decoy as mentioned is an option.I think the new decoy from Poison Arrow might be a good resource also. I watched his video yesterday and I liked it .

with the deck cut in half like that...one must conclude the spot and stalk is clearly the best way because the idea is to see your quarry first and then maneuver into position to ambush or stalk for the kill.

I almost always run and gun, and enjoy it. But this year I am going to try some spot and stalk and still hunting. I like to mix things up a little.

I like Swedes suggestion of raking and stomping to get a response then sneak in on them.

Any other ways to cause them to sound off without using calls? I guess I am trying to think outside of the box a little. I hunt a fairly pressured area and am looking for something different than what everyone else is doing.

Being a well rounded hunter and able to mix it up only helps us and hunting outside the elk box can pay dividends. I know of a few great elk killers who do little to no calling and kill elk every year.
