Maybe some relief from wolves

I dont hate wolves.
But I adont care for the underhanded methods used to build the wolf population in Idaho.
If I remember origiinly the wolf introduction was suppose to be 150 wolves in the greater Yellowstone Eco system
Certianly not what the eviro wackos ended up getting.
From the last aggreement Idaho can "manage" wolves as long as the wolf numbers stay above 150.
I say lets do it

Dave Goins For the Journal BOISE — Bipartisan opposition on Monday put on the ropes an initiative by Idaho Republican Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter to start up a wolf control fund with $2 million and create a new state board.

In the end, the legislation co-sponsored by Rep. Marc Gibbs, R-Grace, and Sen. Bert Brackett of Rogerson escaped an introduction hearing on a 9-8 vote of the House Resources and Conservation Committee.
Six Republicans and two Democrats on the panel voted against the measure. Eight GOP members of Resources and House Minority Caucus Chair Donna Pence, D-Gooding, voted in favor of giving the measure a bill number and full committee hearing later.

Gibbs said it’s his view that a state wolf management plan and the general public want to reduce Idaho’s wolf population to 150 from the currently estimated 680 — a conservative estimate to some.

“We can play with this political football all we want,” Gibbs said during the print hearing, “but the reality is, I think most everyone agrees that it’s going to be very difficult with the means we have before us to reduce the wolf population to the minimum amount that it calls for in the (state) wolf (management) plan.”

“The intent of this control bill is not to eliminate wolves,” Gibbs said.

Said Brackett: “The objective is single-purpose, and that’s to control wolves.”

Otter’s recommendation asks for the $2 million in state general fund money.

Some members of the committee grilled Gibbs and his co-sponsor, Sen. Bert Brackett, R-Rogerson, as to why a new fund and board was needed instead of taking care of wolf management through an existing board.

“Creating a new board, I really have a hard time with that,” said House Majority Leader Mike Moyle, R-Star. “I’d rather use what we have today.”

Gibbs and Brackett are carrying the legislation for the governor. The two lawmakers said the intent of the legislation is to “continue the delisting of wolves,” in Idaho. The de-listing otherwise expires in 2016, according to Brackett.

Surely you are not suggesting that someone somewhere intentionally let the wolf population grow beyond the original stated agreement are you? Or worse.. that they intended for that t happen from the start? Absurd!
