Unit 74 Colorado hunting

Postby Madison COunty » 12 20, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Has anyone ever hunted unit 74 near Durango Colorado, its in southwest Colorado? I read online that it has one of the healthiest elk herds in Colorado. It also said that the resident elk herd continues to grow because other elk from outlying regions migrate there due to excellent feeding opportunities, spring calving grounds and habitat cover.

I did scouting in the area this year and contemplated hunting it. It is good elk habitat. As always, finding places without a lot of pressure is a challenge.

Depending on my Draws in other states, thats where I'll be going. DIY with rented Llamas/walking in.

Jump on hold on tight and ride them bad boys in

I didn't even know you can rent llamas. Do you have to bring a livestock trailer with you to pick them up and take them to the trail head, have to bring food for them? Have you ever hunted 74, if you did hunt how was it?
