Not a woods noise

What do you do when you or a buddy make a noise that is not part of the woods?
Like a cough, sneeze, drop something on the deck of your tree stand, something out of the ordinary.

Do you use a cover sound?
Make a cow mew?
Be silent for a bit?

I know everyone has made noise...

I try to make some kind of scratching raking noise to cover, buy I doubt it makes a difference.

I don't think Noise is as bad as we all think it is. Unless you have a motor running or you are talking out loud, I don't think it's a big deal. I sneeze . . . deer snort (alarm blow). I cough . . . I have heard other animals cough in the woods before. I think that even if animals are within ear shot, if they hear a sound that they don't recognize, they may raise their heads and take note. They might even come a few steps closer to investigate, but if you remain still or they can't quickly identify the sound, I think the lose interest pretty quickly and go about their business.

On the other time, if they already know something is fishy, you may have just raised the flag.

I don't make any coverup sounds as it just lets an animal pinpoint where the first odd noise came from and it will know that an odd noise doesn't belong with a cow mew or other . . .

I stop and just listen and look for a moment or 2....then carry on

I've heard a few cows cough over the years so I don't worry to much about that anymore..... I worrry more about my partners lack of scent control

I just called in a 5x6 bull with 4 cows and as he was pushing the cows a spike came in and the bigger bull pushed out and chased the spike a long a creek and was coughing as he went. It sounded just like a human cough !! So I wouldn't worry about sounds like that. Now if you drop something metal on your tree stand that would be alarming !!

the horses cough every now and then and they sound just like us all. so I pay it no mind either.

I do think there is a place for cow mews to cover some sounds

Usually I make a super-soft cow call, but in reality I'm not sure if that helps or hurts or neither.
