Home grown, or vittles brought to camp

Postby Lefty » 08 23, 2026 •  [Post 1]

As season nears( or has already started( .. What are some of your home grown foods you bring to camp, or home cooked meals ,, Or your favorite backcountry foods.

June 10th we had a rare freeze.
Fifteen ( yes 15) degrees . L:ost all our fruit and blossom in the orchard and everything else left outside, That freeze even killed my berries off, and leaves on the trees
So I dont have garden veggies other than potted stuff.
Generally apples and plums go up to elk camp. and home made pickles and pickled veggies.

So this year my baked beans, and a lot of bear meatloaf for sandwiches and a few dozen pickled eggs

My garden is the local supermarket. If I am camping by myself, I will be enjoying fresh fruit and vegetables until they run out. I bring some frozen meals then I start eating my main course out of a can or sack.
