So whats gone wrong

Entertaining, bad luck or any excuse.
A few times Ive been waiting on a shot,, and an ATV'er shows up on a nearby road! or just driving where they werent suppose to be


Or the time that bull moose wouldnt let the two bull elk come any closer to Julie and Andrew

and how many times has brush covered the vitals

Or the wind swirled

Or the time I was at full draw on a white-tail and a cow elk ran me over,,, that one hurt

Or a handfull of bulls all under 25 yards and the wolves peaked over the ridge

Or you just killed a cow,, and the bull,, are right their.

Or the range finder was wrong ( needed a reset )

And last year a bull in the thicket of quakies and a moo cow stood guard over the wallow
Same year same bull Daughter once for 8 minutes the other time a couple minutes and a cow walked up to her,,, within inches , and blew the herd out.


And this one was uncalled for,, Three bulls in front of us, Andrew just needs to step clear for the shot and some guy bumped into hIm as he ran past

And how many times at the end of a calling session,, time to pick up and move, and there he is ,, well hopefully many of you have had that one,,,

come on ;lets hear those learning adventures, mistakes and experiences ,

While I watched from 160 yards Julie and Andrew walk with in 30 yards of the truck thinking some one was bugling back at them, and it was three smaller bulls,,,



Too hot to be outside 102 a few minutes ago,,,, hurt my back mocing irrigation pipe TWO WEEKS AGO,,,

I guess many of us have experience most or all of the frustrations you mention. Some are harder to deal with than others. The shifting wind or an untimely down draft are just part of the experience. They hurt when you are withing seconds of killing a big bull. Still, they are just part of what make hunting so challenging.
I had a squirrel start chattering at a bull just as I was getting ready to draw my bow. I felt like going ahead and drawing my bow and shooting the squirrel, but good sense held me back. The only things I really resent are the times people deliberately mess with my hunt. Nature is fickle but it is never malicious. You just deal with it. Even trucks and ATVs driving by are just hazards that come from public land hunting. It does not matter if the ATV was supposed to be there if they are not deliberately messing with me.
Stealing my stuff, setting up at the water hole I am sitting at, and hollering and slamming doors on the pickup when I am closing in on a bull ticks me off. I get over it and go somewhere else. I have found hunters in my stand. I have never asked one to leave. I don't mind as I can go somewhere else. Besides, I think if I make a big deal out of their being there, they will believe I have a great spot, and they will make an effort to be there first in the future.
