When Do You Hunt From A Tree Stand?

Postby Swede » 07 18, 2020 •  [Post 1]

Do you have a preferred time of day or particular season or part of the season you prefer to tree stand hunt?
I generally just hunt in the general archery deer and elk season. That extends from late August through well into September. I set up and focus on elk, but will often take a deer if a buck comes by. That is fairly rare. Deer don't much use the same places that the elk do. There is some overlap. I prefer the early season, but the late season can be good. I prefer the late afternoon and evening near bedding areas. I like to be there when elk leave their bedding grounds and go for water. Some areas are better in the morning, so it depends. I hunt from a tree most all day, so I am not that fussy about the time.
