Staying On The Ground

Postby Swede » 05 20, 2020 •  [Post 1]

Earlier I asked what would get you to hunt from a tree stand. Now I am interested is seeing what you think would cause me to stay on the ground? I can think of only one reason.

Gastrointestinal problems? Maybe a can of 2-Bean Stagg Chili for breakfast?
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.

That's why he saves the can after he dines (and takes it up into his stand)…. He "re-purposes" the can to used for a later mission :D

Guys: There is more that one way to recycle.

The truth is I am thinking about doing a rifle elk hunt somewhere. I think is will be Idaho or Montana, but have made no definite plans.

If you end up coming to Idaho let us know where your planning?

And as far as moving from a tree to the ground. With the patience of a trail camera it’s hard to argue that success

Some of you know use to hunt the dessert Africanstyle sitting in water

And have had incredible experiences
When we bear hunted in grizzlie country we also hunted out of a box blind for protection from bears and mosquitoes.
A few years back I also spend time in a pop up blind because of rain

Later today I’m going tree stand, why ? I believe I set my blind on the bears way in and the bears held up 25-40 yards out I could hear and smell them last week, like Swede and Red bean Stagg chili the bears had bad gas Im converting a bit into tree stand hunting Im fully aware ground binds are a different game
Ive had 6x6 bulls wack the bling with me in it, cows and calves rubbing on the blind, batch lore groups of huge bulls with the biggest bulls on the un-shootable side at 14 yards

I believe blinds , in a tree or on the ground will often out produce good shoot able opportunities than (my) calling. . The excitement comes from those close encounters. With that said there is a whole different rush when a bull charge sinto your call

Ive post these for the new guys
