Thats great news!

Switch your residency ASAP!

Here is what you need to do next spring.

You will still be considered a NR when the applications are due in April. Apply for as many Pref Points as you can afford.
You will get the fees back less the $3 app fee.

Then next fall, you will have been here for 6 months + and you can buy the OTC Res tags! AND you will have Pref Points!!!

When you first buy your licenses, you will need 2 forms of identification for proof of residency. [Rent/Utility Bills/etc]
Its a pain, but well worth it.

What ever you do, be sure to remember the exact date you moved here and became a resident and keep appropriate documentation

thanks cnelk, thats about how i had it planned. gonna be an expensive pp because im gonna apply for my kids to so they can start building them. do you guys mostly apply for everything or pick and choose your hunts and ignore the rest. i really wanna hunt all of it. but not sure what the reality is. our house sold today contingent on an inspection so its been a good 2 days.

Having Pref Points in your back pocket is always a good thing to have.
You never know when the CPW will change units for PPs or the draw status.

Remember that your 1st choice should always be a PP and then 2nd - 4th choice can be any hunt you are interested in [Leftover/OTC/Etc]
Once you gain a few PP, then you can start looking at the Limited Entry units.

Its confusing at first, but you'll catch on quick!

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions

ive got 2 pp on elk, will start gathering on all the other stuff. i wanna put in for moose to start my 3 year wait, but still be 2000 this year so i will wait even though i get a refund. one other question, is there any public prairie dog shooting around windsor, possibly the pawnee national grasslands, or even private if they will let ya shoot em.

You are best off heading up to Wyoming to shoot prairie dogs.
LOTS of BLM land and plenty of those little critters there.

N Colorado private land is kinda 'locked' up and public areas get hammered
