Doc's Office . . . in the Doc's Office

Postby LckyTylr » 03 31, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Well, we just got back from the Doc's Office!

:-)

We are proud to announce the birth of a healthy baby girl. Her Name is Thea Olivia and she was 8 lbs 10.6 oz at 21" long. She has a very healthy set of lungs on her so I'm sure she will be very capable of packing out her own meat from the mountains. :-) Daddy has some very great plans for Father-Daughter bonding time.

Both Mommy and Thea are doing well. My 2-year old Son is VERY pleased to be a big brother, he absolutely LOVES her. He's been desperately trying to hold her since he first saw her. We finally managed to calm everyone down tonight before his bed time and let him do just that. He was sitting on the couch next to a pillow. We set her across his lap and rested her head on the pillow. He was very happy and very gentle. I was amazed, my Son is like a wrecking ball on two legs, so this is truly the first time I have seen him act like this. It was really neat.

So, now I have one more excuse to not train as hard as I should to be the ultimate wapiti slayer. That's okay, as long as I'm training harder to be the ultimate Dad . . . I'll be winning.

Thanks Everyone.

I can't believe how much she sleeps. My Son was NOT like this. He was never a good sleeper and he's kept us on our toes since day one. My Wife fed Thea at 10:45 last night before she and I fell asleep. Thea only woke up to eat once between then and 6:00! Wow, I can't believe it. Of course, this will all likely change in the next week as she gets more accustomed to being out in the wide open, but we are soaking it up right now . . . or at least trying to keep up with our Son and all the pets.

Congratulations to you and your whole family. I sure enjoyed the part about how your son gently held his little sister. It brought back fond memories. Don't let those kids grow up too fast. They will be gone way too soon.

Both are healthy and gaining / losing weight as they should be. Haha! :-)

Daughter is a "snacker" or "cluster feeder", so she thinks she needs to eat every hour or less . . . so we aren't getting much sleep. Hoping that we can coax her into a better schedule of sleeping / eating.

Yeah, Ugh!

Our Son was "Colicky". Every night when I got home from work, it was 4 solid hours of screaming from 6 - 10. He was also an awful sleeper. This went on for 6 months. Everyone kept telling us "it will get better, just have patience". Oh yeah . . . just have patience, tell that to my face when my Wife and I have been at each others throats for Months because we are so sleep deprived and frustrated beyond belief. If I ever tell someone with a fussy newborn to have patience . . . PLEASE . . . Punch me in the face.

My Daughter isn't nearly as difficult as our Son was, but she's still a handful. I'm happy to say that, as we have the perfect Disney Family of Four, we are DUN!

Yes Sir, everyone is doing well. Little miss Thea is starting to settle in to a routine . . . as much as a one-month-old can anyways. My Wife is regimental about routines as we both feel that's the healthiest (for baby and for Mom & Dad) way to raise a baby. She deserves all the credit, my Wife is a supermom, I just earn a paycheck and amuse my 2-year old son. We are all quite happy at the moment. Thanks for checking in. :-)

I'm taking my Son with me tomorrow to go to Mt Home, Idaho where Sarge and Grammy live, my Son is going to hang out with Grammy while Sarge and I go shooting. I have worked up a bunch of different hand loads for my 300 RUM, so we need a few hours of range time for proper load development shooting (while allowing appropriate barrel cooling and probably some cleaning).

Hope all is well with everyone else and I hope you all enjoy your weekend.
