My Amazing Daughter!

Postby elkmtngear » 07 13, 2012 •  [Post 1]

I have never been so proud of my Daughter. Yesterday, she secured a spot in the National Marine Corp Band, a feat almost unheard of for a 17 year old! It is unbelievable how hard she has worked for this goal, and how far she has come in the last 6 months!

It's one of those things you want to tell the whole world about.
I am taking her into Eastern Oregon for a Backcountry Elk and Muley hunt....It will be our last adventure before she heads out to Basic Training. It will be good Marine Training as well ;)

Congrats Dad.. and to your daughter.. Sounds like she's got a very good head on her shoulders. Really rare in this day and age for young adults. You and Mrs. elmtngear have obviously done an exceptional job in raising her. RJ

Congrats to your whole family especially your daughter. It looks like she has some great proirities and values. She just doesn't look like what I expect a Marine to look like. LOL Congrats and best wishes.

Pointysticks, she plays clarinet and saxophone. They have been scouting her out since February. She scored a 99 percent on the ASVAB, and being a soccer goalie, she is aggressive, fearless, and in great physical condition. I think they were looking at the whole package, since she is so young, and she lacks the many years of formal musical knowledge that it normally takes to be a band member. Somehow, she managed to make a great impression on the auditioner, who is the National head of the Program.
