Overnight in Denver

Postby six » 07 07, 2012 •  [Post 1]

My son in law has not seen the mountains yet. We are planning on leaving michigan at 5 a m. That will put us in the mountains after dark. I im thinking we should spend the nite in the bass pro parking lot in Denver. That way he can see the mountains in the daylight, and take it all in. Anyone ever stay at bass pro? Any thoughts?

We would love to leave the night before after we get out of work, but our wives think we should leave after a good night's sleep.

Are you saying you are driving from Michigan to Denver just to see the mountains, then turning around and driving back to michigan???

Sorry about that. Things got busy at work and I sent that with out proof reading. We will be hunting west of Denver for a couple weeks. I still remember my first time seeing the mountains 25 years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing the look on his face when he sees them for the first time.

I thought if we stayed in Denver we could continue on after daylight.

Bass Pro has a good sea food resturant. That should hit the spot after a long days travel. I don't know about parking there but you can ask. There is a security patrol that watches the shopping complex.

Thanks WW

Youre right steak and seafood sounds good seeing we'll be eating dehydrated meals on and off for the following week and a half. Might be nice to just gut it out and drive to basecamp and get set up. I guess we'll just play it by ear. Maybe leave at 6 pm he he he.

I think it would be a lot better if he woke up in the mountains then in a parking lot looking at the mountains :)
