CO Moose (Alive), Is he as big as I think?

Postby Vanish » 09 30, 2013 •  [Post 1]

5 Brow Tines on the Right, Couldn''t tell how many on the Left. Doesn't look like the longest palms ever, but that's a LOT of palmation. Looks fairly wide, but not ridiculously so.

Yes. He is big as you think he is. BIgger
He is an older bull as there are short points - not deep valley points

There arent that many measurements on moose antlers

GREATEST SPREAD
NUMBER OF NORMAL POINTS
WIDTH OF PALM
LENGTH OF PALM INCLUDING BROW PALM
CIRCUMFERENCE OF BEAM AT SMALLEST PLACE

At a glance... quick estimates... both side being somewhat symmetrical

46" Overall width = 46
15 points per side = 30
13 inch paddle width = 26
40 inch paddle length = 80
7 inch Circumference = 14

Gross score = 196

WOW!!! Shoot!!!

Heck yeah that's a nice bull! I've only seen one other that big and I've seen my share.

Wow, that is a horse! Here's a basis for comparison. This is a "decent" Shiras Moose (a shooter in many books) that was lurking around our camp in Idaho this year but much smaller/younger than the big boy you photographed.

cnelk. Could you please try to guesstimate this guy's score? Thanks...

Phantom16

Here are a couple pics of my Colorado Shiras bull moose I killed 4 years ago today
He scored 164 1/8 net - still ranks in the top 20 in Colorado

I would venture a guess that the bull in your pics is very similar in size/score

Thanks cnelk. It doesn't seem like the bull I caught on the trail cam is nearly as big as the one you downed. Shows you what I know about moose  Again, thanks.

cnelk, has it really been 4 years....man where has the time gone. I still have the copy of eastman laying around with your story in it.

the moose at the top is a hog no two ways about it......now someone on here just needs to get a tag and go get him so we know what he really scores :)
