Cold Shot #4

Postby Triplebhunters » 07 27, 2013 •  [Post 1]

One for the treestand hunters.

40 yards

From an elevated position. (Tree stand, hill, mountain, etc)

If you do not have the yardage to do 40. Use what you have. It's all about adding practice routines to make us the best we can be. Shooting from elevated stands is the closest some of us are able to practice for shooting in the mountains.

I'll do this one tomorrow. When do we start with broadheads?

4. Inches toward 5 o'clock position. Next three 4-5 inches at 6 o'clock. Tells me I can't hold my form on platform the way I was shooting. Practice practice. Shot a few at 12 yards to imitate frontal shot. Switching to broadheads now which I will have a question for someone a lil later. Have a nice shoot and day all.

That was fun. just went out to the football field & took my 40yd shot from the top of the bleachers. The chance for falling off & hurting me were still there, but I manned up.Enjoyed it so much I shot a second arrow. Both in the 2" range from center.Woke up this am here in eastern Colo to an unseasonable 58 degrees. Man it feels like fall out here!

Just did mine.. uploading the VID to YouTube. I used an "alternative" method to shoot from an elevated position as I don't have a tree stand ;) I'm not gonna miss any more of these cold shot challenges.. Great thread cnelk!

Here's mine. Used an alternative method for an elevated shot ;) Not as creative as buglemaster's but hopefully, it passes the elevated shot rules. RJ

Nice shot RJ! Seriously dude, you could have hurt yourself! I considered doing the shot from the highest peak on my house, but couldn't get the 40 yds I needed.

Great shot Jeff! Elaborate a bit on the redneck hat cam if you will. That's a nice video. My prediction is there's going to be a lot of backstraps sizzling on the grill this winter. Everybody's solid it seems. This is a terrific thread & I'd like to see some of the rest of the "camp" get involved. Come on guys!

Dave, I got tired of setting up a tripod on these videos.

So, I found a cheap strap on Amazon that adapts a camera to a bike helmet, it has a standard male foot thread for a video cam.

Then, I got home and realized I did not have a bike helmet.

So, I looped the velcro straps around the strap bases on a pair of ski goggles...it worked! :D

This stinks, I want to play!

I live in a subdivision. 3 years ago, I could get away with this stuff while they were still building houses around me. One day I was out shooting between my house and the house next to me. I was shooting across the back alleyway by my garage with my target sitting next to the neighbors house across the alley. I walked over to my target to pull out my arrows and my brand new neighbor walks out on his porch sipping his coffee and scares the living hell out of me while I'm bent over my target "Howdy!" he said. Whew, I almost turned inside out. I apologized several times. He turned out to be really cool, but that was the end of my shooting.
