Postby JJ Overkill » 07 12, 2013 •  [Post 1]

like the title asks, mine are normal if you will. the night before opener I grill the whole party t bone steaks, backed tater, and corn on the cob. its an absolute must. ive skipped it on both of the elk seasons ive hunted and stuck out both times. ive always gotten a deer after having done this. hope you like steak David :D

nothing big really,
I post ol' Glory at the top of the ridge pole and we have a toast to this great land.
there is no other place on earth where a man can buy a hunting license OTC, and hunt open land, at little cost.

No traditions for me, unless working hard and making a good shot is a tradition :)

Two things: Night before the opener, fried chicken dinner. Opening day find a feather and stick it in my hat band. Seems to work.

I like to help another elk hunter (usually new) to score each year. Sometimes I am there to see it and sometimes just a lil scouting for a NR or pointing an internet buddy in the right direction. This, to me, is VERY rewarding and an important part of my season.

We have a walleye fish fry each year.
We take off a half day of hunting and enjoy it.

We have a tradition in our camp that we can't shave for at least two months before opening day. You can't shave until you kill or the season ends.

In my first few seasons in the elk woods I'd drink myself to sleep on the night before the opener. Just wasn't gonna sleep otherwise.

well if anyone in camp still has some....we cook up deer or elk steaks or burgers and have a cold one or two, then TRY to get to sleep! and ALWAYS,ALWAYS, have a couple boxes of "chicken in a biscuit" in camp and everyone has a few before each time we head out. and a final fist bump and "shoot straight" is always done as we head out. ;)
