Scott, after you kill your big bull on the second day of your hunt...go back and set up a little ground blind on the gutpile/ carcass. I guarantee you will see a bear ;)

We found out today that the state only allowed so many tags to be sold over the internet and over the phone and the rest were first come first serve at the license agents. When I got there at the store at 8:45, there was seven guys ahead of me, and the license agent gave us a number that ment we would get a tag when we got to the counter. I was number 85, and the store guy told me I had gotten the 85th license sold for my unit.

Got my bear license and an extra cow tag. Never know how many opportunities you'll get but just wanted to have them in case.

I've got a big freezer to fill :)

The three of us guys all picked up our tags this morning at 9 A.m. sharp. Probably the best bear deterrent we could've possibly picked up.

if I get one im planning on sitting over the gut pile. but I agree with the above, the best bear deterrent is a tag. ive only seen one wild bear in my life and he was walking across a road in Canada and was gone that quick. its on my bucket list so was worth the effort. now I gotta go back and get my proof of residency though

so ive been thinking, all I have to do to kill a bear is kill a elk, no problem, . so do you guys sit over the gut pile all day or just in the evening like you were baiting.

If you draw your A elk license, you can apply for a cow tag in the leftover licenses that became available today.

Some folks can even get a third for some specific areas and hunts.

Check out the brochure as they explain it better than I think I did.

Sorry guys, I forgot to post this tip that a CPW person told me regarding bear tags. There is far less of a line at the CPW offices and they usually have lots of clerks that day. Walmart and other licenses offices have lines. Take note of this for next year.
