can you bring your dog to work?

Postby pointysticks » 07 02, 2013 •  [Post 1]

we are having a heat wave. my home has no AC :( (i have a company showing up to give me an estimate tomorrow).

we rarely see temps over 100, but man..for the last week it has been slamming us with africa like weather. i suffer, but my older dog is miserable. today, i brought him to work. he is a stubborn terrier..i hope this works out, and i dont find him dry humping the bosses paper shredder.

where i live is insane. my home is 100+, and my office near the ocean..i almost need a light jacket!

i did earn MAJOR brownie point with the wife. hehe. it is kinda nice having my dog around. even if he is a PIA and rarely listens to me. (my wife is his boss)

your work dog friendly?

Absolutely during field season! Nobody would care if my dogs were in my office during the school year, but they'd be annoying. They'd want attention from every person that walked by my office!

Yes, quite often people will bring their dogs with them. Whether its the vet, hair cut, kennel or just felt like bringing them, usually have dogs roaming around.

I can, but my 1 year old dog is still too rowdy. We walk about 1.5 miles in and she will nap until about 11:00 but then she wakes up and wants to play.

You're a good man pointysticks. It's amazing how many folks do not think about their pups with extreme heat conditions. I am fortunate to have ac in my house but would figure something out for my 3 pot lickers if I did not.

I can't . . . Construction.

I did hear of an interesting story though. My Crane operator told me that when he was working in California a few years ago, the night shift crane operator had a miniature poodle. He put the dog in his oversized lunch box (with his lunch) and climbed up the crane ladder with her every night. She stayed up there while he worked and then went back into the lunch box for the climb down. While I laughed at it, I couldn't help but be jealous and admire the man. I guess he was an older gentlemen and a veteran, he was quoted as saying that "He'd earned the right to good company". I guess eventually OSHA got on him about it.
