Did a little fishin'

Postby Indian Summer » 07 01, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Every year I take a trip to Ontario with a few good friends to Lake St Clair. This was my 11th trip there. If any of you know anything about muskies some people call them the fish of 10,000 casrs. Over the years we have mastered the art of catching big muskies and this year was one for the books. My buddy Adam's boat caught and released 156 muskies with 5 over 50 inches. Our boat caught 180 fish with 2 over 50. We had a 56 fish day one day shattering the previous lake record of 47.... also set by me. Wow! People ask what we caught and we tell them and they say man you guys really dedicate your lives to muskie fishing huh? I say nah... just something to do between elk seasons. I like the biggest fish that swim... but the biggest deer on the continent is where it's at!!!

Actually.... I've gotten in this rut. I can catch muskies easier than bass perch or walleyes. Once you commit and leave all the other tackle behind and put in the time they aren't that hard to figure out. On this particular lake timing is everything. They just finished the post spawn blues where they lay low and recuperate. Then they move out after schools of bait like shad and really put on the feed bags. We had plenty of doubles and even a couple triples!

Here's three over FIFTY FIVE inches!
