google earth outdated images

Postby wawhitey » 06 07, 2013 •  [Post 1]

the google earth images for my main hunting area are all ten years old. i notice in a lot of places it shows old timber where now there are 5 year old clear cuts, etc. is there any way to update this, or does google just not have current images available for a bunch of rural areas?

Have you messed with the date slider within Google EArth to make sure you have the most current images?

Similar note: I've been using Bing Maps instead of Google Maps recently, as their images seem to have twice the detail.

Check out Bing Maps in 'Birds Eye' view...
And be sure to rotate when looking at a spot as you can get a different perspective

Where is the "date slider"? I have not seen any such thing. There are more sliders available than I know what to do with, but I have not found a date slider. My Google Earth seems to update itself. BTW: I just checked out my camp and found no one around. I could have checked out my pickup as it is only a couple miles away. The date shown is Aug.22, 2011, and I have just set up hunting camp.

At the top of the page, on the tool bar, there is a button that has a clock with an arrow pointing over it. "Show Historical Imagery" is what the tool is actually called.

Well cnelk everyone knows that when you get to your age you are not computer savvy. Us younger folks are expected to be more up to date on this stuff. :D
